James L. Sedore, Jr., CPA

James Sedore

Jim Sedore has worked as a partner in Dutchess County public accounting firms for over 30 years. He co-founded Sedore & Company - as Sedore & O'Sullivan - in 1982, and the firm has since grown to include five partners and three locations that serve Dutchess, Putnam, Orange and Ulster Counties.

Sedore has always stressed the importance of community involvement. His posts have included board chairman of both the Wappingers Falls Chamber of Commerce as well as the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber (after the two merged) and he currently sits on the board of Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He is also a member of numerous local business associations as well as the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation.

In 1994, Governor Cuomo, and in 1998 Governor Pataki appointed Sedore to the Board of the Metropolitan Transit Authority. Most recently in 2005, he was named chair of the MTA's oversight committee for the Metro-North Railroad. Sedore is a graduate of Siena College. He resides in Fishkill with his wife Diane.

Mark O'Sullivan, CPA

Mark O'Sullivan

Mark O'Sullivan co-founded Sedore & Company in 1982. He specializes in municipal consulting, tax and accounting consulting and is currently the firm's managing partner.

Mark graduated from Siena College in 1974 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting. He has been a certified public accountant since 1977, and he is currently a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York Society of CPAs.

Mark has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1980, serving as Grand Knight in 1984-85, and a member of Rotary since 1983, serving as president in 1995-96. Mark is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northern Dutchess Hospital. Mark also serves as a Board Member for Health Quest. Further, Mark is very active in his church. He has served as a youth leader, religious education instructor, sits on the parish council and the finance committee, and served as a parish trustee. Ordained as a Deacon in June 2002, he is assigned to Regina Coeli Parish in Hyde Park.

Mark is native of West Islip, New York and he currently resides with his wife Sue in Hyde Park. They are the parents of five daughters, and grandparents to nine grandchildren.

James F. Letterio Jr., CPA

James F. Letterio

Upon graduation from Fordham University in June 1973 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, Jim began his public accounting career with the “Big Four” firm of KPMG, LLP. on Park Avenue in New York City.

He also worked at KPMG during the summer of 1972 under their Pre-Professional Program for students whom the firm had selected for future employment. This was done in between his junior and senior years at Fordham. At KPMG, Jim rose to the level of Supervising Senior Accountant.

By this time Jim had earned his Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant, and decided to leave KPMG to join his father’s practice in his hometown of Beacon, New York in January 1978. As a self-employed practitioner, his experience included accounting, auditing and tax matters.

As of November 1987, Jim merged his practice with Jim Sedore, CPA and Mark O’Sullivan, CPA to form Sedore, O’Sullivan & Letterio, CPA’s, P.C. By the year 2001, the firm became known as Sedore & Company, CPA’s, P.C. , and had grown to include three shareholders and four partners, serving the counties of Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, and Ulster. Jim’s responsibilities continued in the areas of accounting, auditing and tax, including several municipal and not-for-profit clients. Also, he has been responsible for performing business valuations for which the firm has been retained.

Jim has served on a number of local not-for-profit organization Board’s, and also as President of the Southern Dutchess Exchange Club, the Beacon Business Association. He is currently the Chairman of the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Foundation Board. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Mid-Hudson Chapter of Certified Public Accountants, the Government Finance Officers Association, where he currently serves on the Audit and Finance and Legal Committees, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Jim resides in his hometown of Beacon, New York, with his wife, Patricia, and their two daughters, Anne and Emily.

Linda M. Hannigan, CPA

Linda M. Hannigan

Linda joined the firm of Sedore & Co., C.P.A.’s as an audit manager in December 1993 with nine years of tax, accounting and audit experience. She became a partner in January of 2000 and specializing in audits of not-for-profit organizations and municipalities.

Linda is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and has been a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York since 1986. She has also received the AICPA Governmental/Not-for-profit Accounting & Auditing Certificate of Achievement. She is also a graduate of Leadership Dutchess.

Her Professional Memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, NYS Government Finance Officers’ Association and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Linda is currently Treasurer of the Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board and Treasurer of the Make A Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, Inc. She is a member of the Orange County Citizens Foundation, Bon Secours Community Hospital Foundation Board and a former Trustee and Treasurer of the Goshen Public Library and Historical Society.

She resides in Port Jervis, New York with her husband, Robert Schultz.

Karen T. Hansen, CPA

Karen T. Hansen, CPA

Karen Hansen merged her firm, Hansen & Arnold, with Sedore & Company in 2001. She brings over 20 years of tax, audit, and professional financial experience as a practicing Certified Public Accountant.

Karen currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of Civic Properties, Inc., the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Dutchess Ulster Division of the American Heart Association, and the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation. She is a former chair of the board for the Poughkeepsie Chamber, currently serving on the executive committee. Past Board memberships include the United Way of Dutchess County, Dutchess County Girl Scouts, YMCA of Dutchess County, the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, Inc., the Dutchess County Arts Fund, and Poughkeepsie Partnership. She currently serves on the finance committee of St. Martin de Porres Church.

A member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Associate of CPAs, Hansen was also selected for the 52nd edition of Who's Who in America, as well as for recent editions of Who's Who in Finance & Industry and Who's Who in American Women. Hansen resides in the City of Poughkeepsie with her husband Chip Simon and daughter Emma.

Jeffrey L. Brown, CPA

Jeffrey L. Brown, CPA

Jeffrey Brown joined Sedore & Company in 2003 as an Audit Manager and became a Partner in 2007. He has extensive experience with a diverse background of accounting and consulting and specializes in audits in the municipal and not-for-profit sector.

Jeff is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2000, and earned his Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant in 2002.

He is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Mid-Hudson Chapter of Certified Public Accountants. Jeff is an active member of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and graduated from Leadership Orange in 2006. He received the Orange County “Rising Stars” award in 2007 for his demonstration of leadership in professional and community activities.

He currently serves as an Elder at the Goodwill Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, New York and serves on the United Way of Orange County allocations panel.

Jeff resides in Montgomery with his wife, Gretchen, and their daughter, Ellie.

Charles R. Rae, JR. CPA

Charles R. Rae, JR. CPA

Charles Rae began his career with Price Waterhouse & Co and later entered the academic world as an Accounting Professor at St. Bonaventure University and Siena College. Simultaneously he began practicing as a sole practitioner.

Founder of Rae & Co, Charlie has been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant and serving the Hudson Valley for over 35 years. Charlie’s expertise includes all areas of tax, auditing and small business consultation. In 2008, Charlie merged Rae & Co with Sedore & Company.

Charlie has served on the accounting advisory committee at Dutchess Community College, is a member of the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce and serves on the finance committee of St. Mary’s Church in Fishkill, NY. He has also served as treasurer and is past president of the Blodgett Memorial Library Association.

A member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs, he was also elected to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Charlie resides in Fishkill, New York with his wife Susan and they are the parents of three adult children.
