Poughkeepsie, NY-April 21, 2010—Sedore, Hudson Valley CPA’s administrative assistant, Rose Story, will chair the 2010 Spirit of Beacon Day for the 10th year in a row. The event will be held on Main Street in Beacon on Sunday, September 26, from 11 am to 4 pm. The celebration typically draws between six and eight thousand people to downtown Beacon.
“Each year, the event brings more and more people to the City of Beacon,” says Story. “The event gives everyone–especially those who aren’t from Beacon–a chance to see our community for what it is – rich in culture, diversity and a warm, welcoming people.”
Spirit of Beacon Day, which is supported by donations from local businesses, will feature a parade that begins at the city’s municipal building and runs to Tioronda Avenue. Main Street will be dotted with outdoor exhibits of food, crafts and other entertainment.
Story, who has worked for Sedore since 1992, has volunteered to chair the committee of eight people, which organizes the event. Spirit of Beacon of Day was created by city residents back in 1977 in an effort to create community cohesiveness.
